Proposal: The Bitbiashara Base
Building a Physical Home for Bitcoin,
Community, and Opportunity
Executive Summary
Bitbiashara is a grassroots Bitcoin circular economy initiative based in
Tena Estate, Umoja, Nairobi, Kenya. Since its inception, Bitbiashara has
focused on making Bitcoin practical and accessible by creating opportunities
for people to earn, save, spend, and learn together within their local
community.
Despite operating without a dedicated physical space, Bitbiashara has
built a growing community of merchants, families, women, and youth
participating in Bitcoin-powered economic activities, education programs, and
community events.
We are now seeking support to establish the Bitbiashara Base — a
permanent physical space that will serve as the center of our circular economy
and community activities.
The Bitbiashara Base will provide a safe, accessible, and multifunctional
environment where children can stay off the streets, merchants can grow their
businesses, entrepreneurs can showcase their products, and community members
can learn, connect, and transact using Bitcoin.
More importantly, the Base will serve as the foundation for a
self-sustaining, community-owned model where economic opportunity, education,
and social support reinforce one another through a local Bitcoin circular
economy.
The Problem
Our community faces several interconnected challenges:
- Children and
youth lack safe, structured environments during weekends and school
holidays, increasing their vulnerability to gangs, drugs, crime, and
negative peer influence.
- Home-based
entrepreneurs have limited opportunities to showcase their products and
access customers.
- Bitcoin
education and merchant training currently happen in temporary spaces that
limit consistency and growth.
- Community
members lack a central gathering point where educational, economic, and
social activities can thrive together.
- Existing
Bitcoin circular economies struggle to retain value when there are
insufficient opportunities to earn and spend locally.
Despite these challenges, our community has demonstrated that when people
are given the right environment, they actively participate, learn, create
value, and support one another.
The Solution: The Bitbiashara Base
The Bitbiashara Base will serve as a dedicated physical space where
community members can participate in educational, recreational, social, and
economic activities.
1. Bitcoin Education Center
A permanent venue for:
- Weekly Bitcoin
classes
- Merchant
onboarding sessions
- Wallet
demonstrations
- Financial
literacy workshops
- Bitcoin for
Beginners classes
- Bitcoin for
Juniors education programs
- Community
discussions and workshops
All core Bitcoin education programs will remain free and accessible.
2. Bitbiashara NextGen Children's
Space
A safe environment where children can participate in:
- Gymnastics
training
- Dance classes
- Chess and board
games
- Bitcoin
education
- Holiday
programs
- Creative
workshops
- Leadership and
teamwork activities
Our goal is simple:
To keep children off the streets by giving them a safe space where they
can discover purpose, community, and opportunity.

- Adult dance and
movement classes
- Community
wellness activities
- Physical
meetups

The space will provide:
- Merchant
networking sessions
- Product
showcase events
- Bitcoin
business workshops
- Shelf and
display space for home-based businesses
- Community
marketplaces
- Business
mentorship opportunities
5. Community Collection and
Distribution Center
The Base will serve as:
- A pickup and
drop-off point for local businesses
- A coordination
center for errands and deliveries
- A marketplace
for locally produced goods
- A distribution
point for products sold within the circular economy
Demonstrated Community Demand
Bitbiashara has built a functioning grassroots Bitcoin circular economy
through community trust, consistency, and participation — despite operating
without a dedicated physical space.
Today, our community includes:
- 19 active
merchants participating in the the local Bitcoin circular economy
- Over 30
community members actively earning, saving,
spending, and learning with Bitcoin
- 33 children participating
in the Bitbiashara NextGen program
- 4 recurring
weekly community activities focused on education, wellness,
recreation, and economic participation
These milestones demonstrate that the demand, participation, and
community commitment already exist. The establishment of the Bitbiashara Base
is not about starting a community initiative; it is about providing the
physical infrastructure needed to strengthen, sustain, and scale a model that
is already working.

Scaling and Sustainability Strategy
The Bitbiashara Base is designed as a community-owned, self-sustaining
model that can be replicated across neighborhoods and communities.
Phase 1: Establish (Year 1)
The primary objective is to establish the Base as the center of
education, commerce, recreation, and community activities within Tena Estate.
Success will be measured through:
- Active
community members
- Participating
merchants
- Bitcoin
transaction volume
- Children's
program participation
- Revenue
generated through Base activities
Phase 2: Sustain (Years 2–3)
The Base will gradually reduce dependence on external funding through
diversified revenue streams, including:
- Shelf and
display space rentals
- Community
marketplace commissions
- Business
showcase and exhibition hosting fees
- Space rentals
for meetings, trainings, and private events
- Chair and table
rental services
- Projector,
sound system, and equipment rental services
- Event hosting
and facilitation services
- Pickup and
drop-off services
- Delivery and
coordination services
- Sponsored
workshops and educational programs
- Venue
partnerships and community sponsorships
- Community
events and marketplace activities
These revenue streams will allow the Base to generate recurring income
while ensuring that core Bitcoin education and community programs remain free
and accessible.
Phase 3: Replicate (Years 3–5)
Once the model is proven, Bitbiashara will package the Base framework
into a model that can be adapted and implemented by other communities while
remaining locally owned and community-driven.
Vision
Our vision is to create a self-sustaining, community-owned model where
economic opportunity, education, and social support reinforce one another
through a local Bitcoin circular economy.
The Bitbiashara Base is not intended to be charity-dependent. It is
designed to become a sustainable ecosystem where community members actively
contribute to and benefit from the opportunities created within the space.
Our long-term goal is to build a replicable model of a self-sustaining
Bitcoin circular economy that can be adapted and implemented in communities
across Africa and beyond.
